"These are large - I use them on the end of waxed Irish Linen cord and could easily put 3 or 4 strands in them, so they could be good for hemp or other heavy cord. My biggest problem is that they are very hard to crimp - partly because of their size - crimp pliers won't go around them, and my other pliers just keep sliding off. So I am just gluing them on and they seem to work fine. They look great with a copper S clasp."
