While one side maintains its shiny copper color, the other is treated with an azul patina procedure. The patina process is a natural aging procedure where chemicals, fire and earth components create a colored seal on the copper to protect it from further corrosion. With this azul patina process, the result is a turquoise blue coloring filtered across the copper. Each sheet will vary in its appearance and is coated with a protective wax. A second layer of paste wax should be applied to protect the coloring. While you can cut these sheets with sturdy scissors, make sure these scissors are used for the sole purpose of cutting the sheets because they will lose their ability to cut paper.
